Jackie Elliott is an award winning ecologist living in the Peak District National Park, and an experienced writer and broadcaster on local matters.

She has specialized in wildflowers and become an authority on world-wide habitats and propagation, taking a particular interest in National Parks.

Her earlier career gave her experience in computer administration, large charitable organisations and local politics.

Writing on garden design and horticulture after obtaining City and Guilds certificate, including weekly articles for the Yorkshire Post and Sheffield Telegraph

NATIONAL PARKS

Set up a wildflower nursery for the Peak District National Park, and won a European Conservation award for the success of this work.

Lectured on wildflowers, ran day schools and week-end courses. Weekly broadcast on BBC Radio Sheffield.

Became a consultant on landscape design to local authorities, large companies and private individuals, with an emphasis on restoring natural appearances.

CHARITIES

Local fundraising for MIND, the mental health charity.

For SHELTER the housing charity, ran the computer administration in London, using volunteers.

BUSINESS

First worked in public relations for Castrol Oil Co. Later worked for NCR and Ferranti Ltd (now ICL) in computer training and computer services.

LOCAL POLITICS

Founder member of local SDP (now Liberal Democrats), in charge of fund-raising on Steering Group. Ran local election campaign as candidate and organised general election campaign.
